Cafe Review: Henry Lee Redfern

What do you do on a Saturday morning when you wake up super early? I don't know about you but for me, this is the perfect opportunity to explore new cafes.

Redfern isn't a place that I head to very often, but I was recommended this cafe by a friend so I had to stop by. Located on a tiny quiet street just off the main road, it is slightly hidden. Blink and you could walk right past it. If in doubt, google map will always be your best friend. Luckily I was seated instantly but the cafe does fill up quickly and I noticed that not long after, people did have to wait. Perks of me going so early in the morning! The cafe was more spacious than what I had expected and I loved the natural lighting that was able to shine through.

Our Order
The Gloaming
Henry Feels
Red Velvet Latte
Taro Latte

I was very impressed with Henry Feels because it was so flavourful and the caramelised sauce from the bacon really complimented the eggs. The bacon which I mistook for pork belly at first was so tender that it melted in my mouth. A definite upgrade from your supermarket bought bacon. Veggies and soft shell crab were cooked to perfection and the portion size was just right. Could this dish be any more perfect?!

I've ordered many taro lattes before but this is by far the most vibrant one that I've ever seen! It looked too pretty to drink so I left it to last to admire it for a little longer. First impression was that it had a very light taro taste that is more on the milkier side. If you prefer something stronger, this may not be the best option.

Great service from the lady with the pink hair for being so bubbly and welcoming. I really enjoyed my time here and will be back for more in the future to try out the rest of their menu. Not only is their food instagrammable but also delicious so do check this place out!
