Cafe Review: Le Monde

Situated in the heart of Surry Hills and only a short walk from Central Station, you'll find Le Monde tucked away on a hill. When you hear Le Monde, it's their signature matcha pancakes that come to mind. However I wasn't in the mood for pancake and it was the potato rosti that stood out to me. A quick zomato search told me it seemed to be the next most popular item ordered after the matcha pancakes. I figured this would be a safe bet.

Our Order
Crunchy Potato Rosti
Truffled Poached Eggs
Skim Latte

For my potato rosti, I had the option of choosing either bacon or smoked salmon. I chose the latter for my daily dose of omega 3 but mainly because I was trying to be healthy. I've definitely been snacking a little too much lately, but I blame the cold!

It came with a delicious poached egg covered with a lovely layer of hollandaise sauce that was stacked above the salmon and potato rosti. I was hoping I'd come to like hollandaise sauce this time but nope, I'm just not a big fan. This is probably the reason I stay away from eggs benedict even though they look so yummy. Definitely not the cafe's fault though, just my personal preference.

The skim latte was made using Five Sense coffee which was your standard cup of coffee. I had no problem with it at all.

Food was decently priced considering this area is home to some of the most popular cafes such as Devon, Meet Mica etc. Service was great thanks to the staff for being attentive and efficient. Overall a great spot to visit and chill with friends!
